Biography
Oleg Sheremeta is a Ukrainian flautist and soloist whose career encompasses orchestral performance, solo and chamber music, conducting, and artistic leadership. He spent a decade as Principal Flute of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine before relocating to China in 2016. Now based in Shanghai, he continues to perform as a soloist and chamber musician while developing new artistic projects.
Born in Lviv, Ukraine, into a musical family, Oleg began his musical education at the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv Special Music School, studying with Ivan Levkovych and Olena Pavlenko. During his studies, Oleg won a national wind instrument competition in Ukraine in 2002, received a presidential scholarship, and was a laureate of international competitions.

He continued his studies at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv under Professor Oleg Kudriashov, a distinguished Ukrainian flautist and pedagogue. In 2008, Oleg graduated with honours, earning a Master of Musical Art degree. From 2008 to 2011, he undertook further postgraduate musical training under Professor Kudriashov.
In 2006, at the age of 20, Oleg was appointed Principal Flute of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, a position he held until 2016. During this period, he toured internationally with the orchestra, performing in more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He regularly appeared as a soloist and recorded solo repertoire with the orchestra. His solo and chamber music activities also included performances at many prestigious concert venues and international music festivals. In 2015, he appeared as a flute soloist in a concert featuring violinist Joshua Bell in Kyiv.

Since moving to China in 2016, Oleg has continued his performing career while expanding his work into music education, orchestral development, and artistic leadership. He has held senior management positions and served as a resident conductor with several orchestras, gaining experience in both the artistic and organizational aspects of professional orchestral work.
Oleg performs regularly across China and continues to pursue international engagements as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. Alongside established repertoire, he develops original concert concepts and programmes, creates arrangements and orchestrations, and produces musical projects for ensembles of varying sizes and configurations. His work reflects a creative approach to repertoire and concert presentation, combining established musical traditions with new ideas and exploring new possibilities for flute performance.

Oleg currently performs on a 19.5-karat gold Haynes flute, generously provided for his lifetime use by a family fund of the late prominent Chinese entrepreneur, in recognition of his artistic achievements. This gesture reflects the family’s confidence in Oleg’s artistry and his commitment to the highest standards of musical performance.
